Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) The words Sudden Infant Death Syndrome strike fear in the hearts of parents. In the US alone, it is a horrifying reality for the bereaved parents of approximately 2,500 babies per year. Although SIDS has decreased by over 50% since 1983, it is still the leading cause of death in infants from 1 month to 1 year old.
Stillbirth: an invalidated loss One in every 116 babies delivered is a stillbirth. These are sobering statistics and one that many parents are unaware of.
