Default Death of a niece and other issues

My niece who was my sister's daughter died three weeks ago in a car accident. We were very close. I have been taking this hard. Another issue that has been bothering me and my sister is how my brother-in-law's side of the family has been acting since her death. My BIL's family has always left him and his family out of a lot things and my sister and her kids always got treated like they were on the bottom of the totem pole by most of BIL's siblings and mom. My niece was never asked to be in wedding parties or related things one of BIL's sisters who is single and never married treats all the other nieces and nephews really well. She would take them to the movies when they were growing up and do a lot of things for them. But she never took my niece anywhere. My niece was never treated extremely well by most of my BIL's family. Since her death those who didn't treat her well have acted like they were close to her and have been really fake. This upsets me a lot especially because I treated my niece a lot better than they did. They never cared a lot about her when she was alive but now that she is gone they act like they did. Am I wrong to be upset with them?
My sister and brother-in-law are also upset with them.
