Default Little Stevie

My sister wrote this for Steve’s funeral. They were born on the same day 8 years apart.

Little Stevie
By Theresa Lovell

We prayed for you to join us
A miracle it had to be
On my eighth birthday, what a joy we had
When Mom said, “Come and see”

Curly, blonde hair
Pretty blue eyes
A birthmark like mine
What a surprise!

School and fun
Football and band
Onery and playful
Then off to another land

A dark haired beauty crossed your path
The rice was thrown
The chickens clucked in celebration
Then off on a scooter to make life your own

Two handsome boys
Reflections of your heart
Nice, cheerful, and funny
Always together, never apart

Showing wisdom beyond your years
Hugs and kisses abound
Living and loving
Never knowing your time was coming unwound

Life is a mystery
From hello to goodbye
Through the laughter and the tears
Only God knows the reason why

Family and friends don’t want to let you go
But, God said your time here is done
You will forever live in our hearts
Now that your wings you have won

Vaya Con Dios,
Estevan!
