Default Depression: tips for coping

With regard to depression, a good practical tip is to take Vitamin B12 and Omega 3. I got this tip from a book on depression called Shoot The Damn Dog (page 299), the book seems very well researched and is a memoir of the author's depression and her subsequent recovery.

Apparently numerous studies have shown decreased omega-3 content in the blood of depressed patients, and this can also indicate an increased risk of suicidal behaviour. The crucial ingredient seems to be EPA, and the author recommends that you take 1000 mg (one gram) of EPA per day. As EPA is only one constituent of Omega 3, you need to work out the number of capsules you need to take in order to get the therapeutic dose of one gram of pure EPA.

I did some onlilne research and ended up getting my Omega 3 from Igennus: in bulk as this was a relatively cheap solution. I take 4 a day, to reach the required level of EPA, and find it very effective although it may take a while to kick in. (BTW, I don't benefit in any way from recommending this product).

As regards Vitamin B12, apparently low levels of Vitamin B12 are often linked to higher incidences of depression. One complex B vitamin tablet a day should help to normalise your Vitamin B levels.

old post from Lucie but definitely worth a re read ^^^ Bump up^^^
Memory can only tell us what we were,
in the company of those we loved;
it cannot help us find what each of us, alone, must now become.
Yet no person is really alone;
those who live no more echo still within our thoughts and words,
and what they did has become woven into what we are.

I wish you peace and a level path on your journey...
